The Limpet & The Cloud.

Soledad Senlle Gallery Amsterdam celebrates spring with the vivid and colourful exhibition The Limpet & The Cloud. With this exhibition the French artists Emilie Faïf en Arnold Goron show their work in the Netherlands for the first time. The installations and sculptures of the artists together form a dreamlike landscape.

An enormous heart, secret landscapes and floating prairies are part of the world Emilie Faïf creates. Her colorful installations have something natural about them and at the same time they are mysterious. They resemble dreams in which the heavy becomes light, where wishes never fall back and in which light doesn’t create shadow. Part of the works shown in this exhibition were originally made for fashion designer Isabel Marant with whom she has been in an ongoing dialogue since 2003. In some pieces Faïf incorporated garments and fabrics in spacious, occasionally moving installations.

The sculptures and installations of
Arnold Goron are often made of stone- and earth. He works with these natural materials as a true sculptor; making use of the suppleness of the material, whereas at the same time he carves the clay as if it was a hard stone. When Goron starts out with an existing object, he will keep working until it becomes unrecognizable. His round and angular shaped objects seem to have been pulled out of strange landscapes. His sculptures are made to be caressed.
